For the love of plants
Organic Botanic is a part time business providing herbs, seeds, succulents, indoor plants and garden inspired gifts.
Operating from a small growing nursery in Hamilton Hill, I spend many wonderful hours attending to my plants. I often work at night to avoid the heat for both myself and the plants. I am assisted by a two black labradors named Ludo and Chevie who keep me entertained with bone politics and stick chasing.
I sell my wares through local markets for three weekends out of the month. I am currently at Kalamunda Artisans Market on the first Saturday of the month, Vic Park Farmers Market on the first Sunday of the month, Mundaring Rotary Market on the second Sunday of the month, Bedfordale Bush Markets on the fourth Saturday of the month and Palmyra Western Farmers Market on the last Sunday of the month. I enjoy the hustle and bustle of the markets. Talking is a sport I have an affection for :)
Once a year I have a large set up at the the Perth Garden Festival in McCallum Park, where I get to meet lots of new gardeners and along with my usual wares, sell plants that are too big to take to the markets.
One of my favourite part of the growing process is getting my plants ready for sale. The day before a market all the plants are preened and plucked and given the once over before they are packed in the van. Weeds and dead leaves are removed, a nip and a tuck with a pair of scissors, a label added and voila - a plant supermodel!
